Pro Golfers from Maryland

Current Pro Men’s Golfers from Maryland (PGA 2023)

Golfers, and athletes of all sports really, take pride in where they’re from. Whether it’s the state, city or area code – you always notice players wanting to rep their home area.

The whole Ryder Cup is basically built on the principle of competing and representing where you’re from.

Fans tend to do the same thing. It’s always more fun to pull for a player when they’re from your home state (or even your hometown).

With all that in mind, we went through the World Golf Rankings and pulled the home states (or countries) of every player in the top 200 (as of 5/19/23).

28 of the 50 states in the US have at least one player representing them in that top 200.

One of those 28 states is Maryland which has a lone representative in the top 200.

Here is the golfer from Maryland in the World Golf Rankings top 200 in the spring of 2023 including what town they’re from.

About the Players

Denny McCarthy

Denny McCarthy turned pro in 2015 after a successful collegiate golf career at the University of Virginia, where he was a two-time All-American.

After turning professional, McCarthy made his way up through the ranks via the Korn Ferry Tour, the PGA Tour’s developmental tour. He earned his PGA Tour card for the first time in 2018 by finishing 25th on the Korn Ferry Tour’s regular-season money list.

While he has yet to capture his first PGA Tour win, McCarthy is well-regarded for his putting skills, often ranking among the top putters on the PGA Tour. His consistent play has allowed him to maintain his position on the PGA Tour and compete against some of the best golfers in the world.
