Zdeno Chara
Zdeno Chara was selected in the third round, 56th overall, by the New York Islanders in the 1996 NHL Draft. Standing at 6’9″, Chara is the tallest player ever to play in the NHL. Over his career, he played for the Islanders, Ottawa Senators, Boston Bruins, Washington Capitals (and Islanders again).
Chara’s time with the Bruins is the most memorable, where he served as team captain and led them to a Stanley Cup victory in the 2010-2011 season. A defensive stalwart, Chara has been awarded the James Norris Memorial Trophy as the league’s best defenseman and has been named to multiple (7) All-Star teams.
His physical play, leadership, and commitment to both ends of the ice have made him one of the most respected players of his generation.

Miroslav Satan
Miroslav Satan was selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the fifth round of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. He played in the NHL for various teams, including the Sabres, Islanders, Penguins, and Bruins. Perhaps his most productive years came during his time with the Sabres, where he consistently ranked among the team’s top scorers.
In addition to his club successes, Satan was a staple for the Slovak national team.
He represented Slovakia in numerous international tournaments, including the Olympics and the World Championships. His contributions helped Slovakia secure a gold medal in the 2002 World Championships, marking one of the country’s most significant achievements in ice hockey.

Bill Guerin
Bill Guerin was selected 5th overall by the New Jersey Devils in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. He became an instrumental player for the Devils, and his time there culminated in a Stanley Cup championship in 1995.
His NHL journey took him to several teams, including the Edmonton Oilers, Boston Bruins, Dallas Stars, St. Louis Blues, San Jose Sharks, New York Islanders, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. With the Penguins in 2009, Guerin added a second Stanley Cup to his list of achievements.
Internationally, Guerin represented the United States multiple times, most notably during the Winter Olympics. He was part of the team that secured the silver medal at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games.

Brad Boyes
Brad Boyes was drafted 24th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut with the San Jose Sharks during the 2003-04 season after a trade. However, it was with the Boston Bruins and then the St. Louis Blues that Boyes found his stride.
In the 2007-08 season with the Blues, Boyes had his best offensive year, scoring 43 goals and adding 22 assists. His success in St. Louis continued the following season with a career-high 72 points.
After his time with the Blues, Boyes played for several other NHL teams, including the Buffalo Sabres, New York Islanders, Florida Panthers, and Toronto Maple Leafs. He continued to be known for his shootout skills, and though his production declined in later years, he remained a valued veteran presence.

Austin Czarnik
Austin Czarnik, an American center, currently plays for the Detroit Red Wings of the NHL. Czarnik went undrafted in the NHL but has played with several teams including the Bruins, Flames, Islanders, and Seattle Kraken.
Czarnik made his NHL debut with the Bruins in the 2016–17 season and scored his first NHL goal against Henrik Lundqvist of the New York Rangers. After his tenure with the Bruins, he joined the Calgary Flames in 2018 on a two-year contract.
Czarnik later signed a two-year deal with the New York Islanders in 2020, before moving to the Seattle Kraken in the 2021–22 season, and finally signing a two-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings in 2022.
Jaroslav Halak
Jaroslav Halak is a goaltender known for his calm demeanor and skill between the pipes. He was drafted 271st overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2003 NHL Draft.
Halak started his NHL career with the Canadiens, and during his time there, he had a number of standout performances, particularly in the 2010 playoffs, where he played a crucial role in the team’s surprising deep run, helping them to upset favorites like the Washington Capitals and the Pittsburgh Penguins with his outstanding goaltending.
In 2010, he was traded to the St. Louis Blues, where he continued to showcase his talent as a starting goaltender. His journey in the NHL has also seen him tending the goal for the New York Islanders, Boston Bruins, Vancouver Canucks and New York Rangers.

Nate Thompson
Nate Thompson is an American former professional ice hockey forward with a diverse NHL career. Drafted by the Boston Bruins in the sixth round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Thompson’s professional journey began with major junior hockey for the WHL’s Seattle Thunderbirds before moving to the Bruins’ AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins.
Thompson’s NHL debut came in the 2006–07 season with the Bruins, but he spent the majority of that season in the AHL. In 2008 he was claimed off waivers by the Islanders and, despite a series of injuries, he scored his first NHL goal. In the 2009–10 season, Thompson moved to the Lightning, where he achieved career-highs in goals, assists, and points.
After his time with the Lightning, Thompson spent the next 8 seasons bouncing around quite a few different teams including the Ducks, Senators, Kings, Canadiens, Flyers, Jets, and finally, the Flyers again.
