My guess is you’ve searched this page out because you’re playing the Immaculate Grid.

If I’m right, that also means that today’s grid is asking for players who have played for both the Seattle Kraken and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

And, I’m also guessing that you’re a little stuck on this particular square and you’re looking for a little help to keep your grid immaculate. Sound about right so far?

Well, good news, I’m here to help.

I’ve already done the research and have put together a list of well-known stars along with some more “under-the-radar” players that could land you a low rarity score.

Derrick Pouliot

Derrick Pouliot is a Canadian defenceman currently playing for the Texas Stars in the AHL while under contract for the Dallas Stars. He has played for several NHL teams, including the Pittsburgh Penguins, Vancouver Canucks, St. Louis Blues, Vegas Golden Knights, Seattle Kraken, and San Jose Sharks.

Pouliot was selected eighth overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Penguins. Pouliot made his NHL debut with the Pittsburgh Penguins in December 2014, scoring his first NHL goal on his first shot. He was part of the Penguins team that won the Stanley Cup in 2016.

In October 2017, he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks. He set an NHL record for most goals scored from the start of a career, with all being game-winning goals, during his time with the Canucks.

Jared McCann

Jared McCann is a Canadian forward currently playing for the Seattle Kraken. He was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the first round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. McCann made his NHL debut with the Canucks in the 2015-16 season, where he scored his first NHL goal in October 2015 against the Calgary Flames.

In May 2016, McCann was traded to the Florida Panthers, where he played until February 2019 before being traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

With the Penguins, McCann signed a two-year contract in September 2020, but was later traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in July 2021. His move to the Maple Leafs was strategic, anticipating his selection in the expansion draft by the Seattle Kraken, which happened shortly afterward in July 2021.

Daniel Sprong

Daniel Sprong is a Dutch forward currently playing for the Detroit Red Wings. He was originally selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round, 46th overall, of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

His journey in the NHL has seen him play for several teams, including the Anaheim Ducks, Washington Capitals, and Seattle Kraken, before signing with the Detroit Red Wings in 2023.

After a season with the Penguins, he was traded to the Anaheim Ducks in 2018. Following his time with the Ducks, he moved to the Washington Capitals in 2020 and later to the Seattle Kraken in 2022, where he recorded a career-high 46 points in 66 games.

Riley Sheahan

Riley Sheahan was drafted 21st overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft and has played in the NHL for several teams including the Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins, Florida Panthers, Edmonton Oilers, Buffalo Sabres, and Seattle Kraken.

Sheahan’s NHL career began with the Red Wings. In October 2017, he was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he completed the 2017-18 season with 32 points in 81 games. Subsequent trades led him to the Florida Panthers in 2019, where he scored 19 points in 82 games, and then to the Edmonton Oilers, contributing 15 points in 66 regular season games.

Sheahan continued his NHL journey with the Buffalo Sabres in 2020 and the Seattle Kraken in 2021, where he played a depth forward role and served as the team’s primary penalty killer. In August 2022, he returned to the Sabres on a one-year contract but was placed on unconditional waivers for refusing to return to their AHL affiliate.

Brandon Tanev

Brandon Tanev, a Canadian left winger, currently plays for the Seattle Kraken. Tanev began his NHL career with the Winnipeg Jets after graduating from Providence College. Tanev then joined the Pittsburgh Penguins for the 2019–20 season, playing a key role in exhausting opposing teams’ leading scorers.

Unfortunately, Tanev’s time with the Penguins was marked by injuries, missing most of the 2020–21 season but rejoining the team for their short stint in the 2021 Stanley Cup playoffs.

He was later selected by the Seattle Kraken in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft. Tanev has been known for his energy and aggressive play style throughout his career.

Jamie Oleksiak

Jamie Oleksiak, a Canadian defenceman, currently plays for the Seattle Kraken. Oleksiak was drafted 14th overall by the Dallas Stars in the first round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, marking the highest draft choice in Northeastern University’s history.

Following his draft, Oleksiak turned pro and began his career with the Texas Stars in the AHL for the 2012–13 season, where he made a notable impact and was subsequently called up to the NHL. Oleksiak’s NHL career includes playing for the Dallas Stars, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Seattle Kraken.

In his NHL career (up to the time of this writing), Oleksiak has accumulated a total of 34 goals, 80 assists, and 114 points over 516 games, along with 416 penalty minutes. His playstyle is characterized by physicality and defensive solidity, which is reflected in his performance statistics.
