Baseball Players who Played for Blue Jays and Cardinals

There is a good chance that if you’ve found this page then you’re playing the Immaculate Grid.

That also means that today’s grid has asked for players that have played for both the Toronto Blue Jays and the St Louis Cardinals.

And, it also means that you’re probably stuck on this particular box and you’re looking for a little help. Sound about right so far?

Well, good news, you’re in the right place.

I’ve done some research and have found 3 players who played on both the Blue Jays and the St Louis Cardinals.

Pat Hentgen

Most of us will remember Pat Hentgen as a starter for the Blue Jays where he spent 10 seasons of his career, but he also played for the Cardinals and Orioles at the end of his career.

Hentgen was a workhorse on the mound, leading the majors in complete games, innings pitched and batters faced back-to-back years in 1996 and 1997. In ’96, he also won 20 games and took home the Cy Young Award.

Hentgen was a three-time All-Star and was instrumental in the Blue Jays’ 1993 World Series championship.

Todd Stottlemyre

Todd Stottlemyre was a ’90s-era pitcher who is probably remembered by most as a Blue Jay but also pitched for the Diamondbacks, Cardinals, A’s and Rangers.

Stottlemyre is arguably one of the best pitchers to never make an All-Star game. He accumulated 130 wins and over 1,500 strikeouts, but never received an all-star nod.

However, he was a key component of the Blue Jays’ back-to-back World Series championships in 1992 and 1993.

Scott Rolen

Scott Rolen, who played from 1996 to 2012, is best known for his time as a third baseman with the Phillies, Cardinals and Reds. (He also played about a season and a half with the Blue Jays)

Rolen was a dynamic player, known for his combination of power-hitting and stellar defense. He compiled over 2,000 hits, 316 home runs, and won eight Gold Glove Awards (Phillies, Cardinals, Reds).

Rolen was also Rookie of the Year in 1997 with the Phillies and made 7 All-Star appearances (Phillies, Cardinals, Reds)

His remarkable defensive abilities and consistent power at the plate earned him significant respect throughout his career and ultimately led to his induction into the Hall of Fame in 2023.
