Baseball Players who Played for Rangers and Giants

There is a good chance that if you’ve found this page then you’re playing the Immaculate Grid.

That also means that today’s grid has asked for players that have played for both the Texas Rangers and San Francisco Giants.

And, it also means that you’re probably stuck on this particular box and you’re looking for a little help. Sound about right so far?

Well, good news, you’re in the right place.

I’ve done some research and have found players who played on both the Rangers and Giants.

Will Clark

Will Clark, who played from 1986 to 2000, is best known for his time as a first baseman with the San Francisco Giants. Clark had a stellar career, racking up over 2100 hits, 284 home runs, and a .303 career batting average.

He was a six-time All-Star (Giants, Rangers) and won a Gold Glove (Giants) and two Silver Slugger awards (Giants). In his rookie season, Clark famously homered in his first major league at-bat. His best season might have been 1989 when he hit .333 with 23 home runs and led the Giants to the World Series.

Known for his sweet left-handed swing and competitive spirit, Clark was one of the top first basemen of his era.

Hunter Pence

Hunter Pence, a right fielder, played in the majors for 14 years from 2007 to 2020, most notably with the San Francisco Giants, where he was an integral part of their 2012 and 2014 World Series championships.

Pence, a four-time All-Star (Astros, Giants, Rangers), also spent time with the Astros, Phillies, and Rangers. He was known for his unconventional style, both in his swing and his outfield play. Pence finished his career with a .279 batting average, 244 home runs, and 942 RBIs.

His 2013 season with the Giants was a standout, with Pence hitting .283 with 27 home runs and 99 RBIs, earning him a spot in the All-Star game.

Joe Nathan

Joe Nathan, one of the premier closers of his generation, played in the major leagues from 1999 to 2016. During his 16-season career, Nathan pitched primarily for the Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers, but also had stints with the Giants, Tigers, and Cubs.

He finished his career with 377 saves, ranking him 8th on the all-time list. Nathan boasted an impressive career ERA of 2.87 and WHIP of 1.12, striking out 976 batters over 923.1 innings.

A 6-time All-Star (Twins, Rangers), Nathan twice led the American League in saves, in 2004 and 2009. He also won the Rolaids Relief Man of the Year Award twice, in those same years.

Carlos Beltran

Carlos Beltran is a 9-time all-star who played an incredible 20 years in major league baseball. Over his 20-year career, he played for 7 different teams – 2 of which were the Royals and the Mets.

Beltran also played for the New York Yankees, St Louis Cardinals, Houston Astros, Texas Rangers and the San Francisco Giants – making him an extremely versatile Immaculate Grid answer.

RARITY SCORE ALERT: Even though Beltran is a 9-time all-star, he is most well remembered as a Met or a Royal. He only played one season each with the Giants (only 44 games in 2011) and Rangers (52 games in 2016), making him a strong play here.

Beltran Key Stats

  • Rookie of the Year (Royals)
  • All-Star (Astros, Mets, Cardinals, Yankees)
  • Gold Glove (Mets)
  • Silver Slugger (Mets)
  • 40+ Home Run Season (Mets)
  • 100+ RBI Season (Royals, Mets)
