7 Basketball Players who Played for Lakers and Hornets

I’ve done some research and have found players who played for both the Lakers and the Hornets.
Dwight Howard
Dwight Howard is known in the NBA for his physical dominance and rebounding ability. Drafted first overall in the 2004 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic, Howard quickly established himself as one of the premier centers in the league.
He has been named an All-Star eight times and has been selected to the All-NBA First Team five times. Howard has led the NBA in rebounds a remarkable five times and blocks twice. His highest achievement came in 2008 when he was named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year, an honor he would win three times consecutively.
Although largely associated with the Magic, who he led to the NBA Finals in 2009, Howard has also had stints with the Lakers, Rockets, Hawks, Hornets, Wizards, and 76ers. He won his first NBA championship with the Lakers in 2020.

Eddie Jones
Eddie Jones was selected 10th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1994 NBA Draft. During his time with the Lakers, he was a key part of the team’s success, making two All-Star appearances. In 1999, he was traded to the Charlotte Hornets, where he continued to thrive, earning another All-Star selection.
In 2000, Jones was traded to the Miami Heat, where he remained until 2005. While with the Heat, he was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 2005.
Jones’s 14-year career totals include 14,155 points, 3,857 rebounds, and 1,620 steals. He was known as a strong perimeter defender, leading the league in steals in the 1999-2000 season, and was named to the NBA All-Defensive team three times.

Tyson Chandler
Tyson Chandler was renowned for his rebounding and defensive skills. Drafted straight out of high school as the second overall pick by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2001 NBA draft, Chandler was immediately traded to the Chicago Bulls, where he spent his first five seasons.
He moved to the Dallas Mavericks in 2010, where he won the NBA Championship in 2011. His exceptional performance earned him the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award the following season.
Throughout his career, Chandler played for several NBA teams (8 in total) including the Knicks, Suns, Lakers and Rockets. Known for his tenacity on defense and ability to protect the rim, he also had significant success on the international stage, winning a gold medal with Team USA in the 2012 London Olympics.

Malik Monk
Malik Monk played his college basketball at Kentucky under head coach John Calipari. In his freshman season, he made a significant impact by showcasing his scoring prowess, which included a memorable performance against North Carolina where he scored 47 points.
He was selected 11th overall by the Charlotte Hornets in the 2017 NBA Draft. With the Hornets, Monk began his journey in the league, displaying flashes of his scoring potential and athletic feats.
Over the years, he has been working on improving his consistency and expanding his skill set to contribute more effectively to his team’s success.
Vlade Divac
Standing 7’1″, Vlade Divac was one of the first European players to make a significant impact in the NBA. Divac was drafted 26th overall in the 1989 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers, where he played alongside Magic Johnson and James Worthy.
A versatile center with excellent passing skills, he averaged 11.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game in his seven seasons with the Lakers. In 1996, he was traded to the Hornets for Kobe Bryant. After two seasons with the Hornets, Divac signed with the Sacramento Kings where he was a key player in the Kings’ strong run in the early 2000s.
Divac finished his career back with the Lakers in 2004-2005. He was an All-Star in 2001 and is one of seven players in the history of the NBA to record 13,000 points, 9000 rebounds, 3000 assists, and 1500 blocked shots. His number 21 jersey was retired by the Kings.

DJ Augustin
Following an impressive sophomore year at the University of Texas, where he averaged 19.2 points and 5.8 assists, DJ Augustin was drafted 9th overall by the Charlotte Bobcats in the 2008 NBA Draft.
Over his NBA career, Augustin has displayed strong playmaking and shooting skills, particularly his three-point shooting. For example, during the 2013-2014 season with the Chicago Bulls, he averaged 14.9 points per game and shot an impressive 41.1% from the three-point line.
A journeyman in the league, Augustin has played for multiple teams (11 in total), consistently contributing off the bench. He’s had several seasons where he averaged double-digit points and solid assists numbers, like in the 2010-2011 season where he averaged 14.4 points and 6.1 assists per game with the Bobcats.

Lance Stephenson
Selected in the second round of the 2010 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers, Lance Stephenson spent the first four seasons of his career in Indiana. His best season came in 2013-14 when he averaged 13.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game, and led the NBA in triple-doubles (5).
He was a significant contributor to the Pacers teams that made back-to-back Eastern Conference Finals appearances in 2013 and 2014.
Stephenson later played for several other teams, including the Hornets, Clippers, Grizzlies, Pelicans, and Lakers. Despite bouncing around the league, his dynamic playstyle and sometimes flamboyant on-court antics have made him a memorable figure in the NBA.
