6 Football Players who Played for Broncos and Rams

I’ve done some research and have found players who played on both the Broncos and Rams.

Aqib Talib

Aqib Talib was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20th overall in the 2008 NFL Draft and played for the team until 2012. His skills on the field led him to be a sought-after player, with stints on the New England Patriots, Denver Broncos, and Los Angeles Rams.

One of Talib’s career highlights came during his time with the Broncos when he helped the team win Super Bowl 50. Known for his aggressive and physical style of play, Talib was a key piece of the Broncos’ top-ranked defense, dubbed the “No Fly Zone”.

Talib earned multiple accolades throughout his career, including five Pro Bowl selections and two All-Pro selections. His ability to perform at a high level consistently and his knack for intercepting the ball made him a force to be reckoned with on the field.

Wes Welker

Wes Welker is widely known for his productive stint with the New England Patriots from 2007 to 2012. His quickness and ability to read defenses made him an ideal slot receiver, resulting in five Pro Bowl selections.

Welker led the NFL in receptions three times during his career, 2007, 2009, and 2011, and became the first receiver in NFL history with five 110-catch seasons. He later joined the Denver Broncos, reaching another Super Bowl, but unfortunately didn’t secure a championship.

He ended his 12-year career with 903 receptions, 9924 receiving yards, and 50 touchdowns.

Gus Frerotte

Gus Frerotte is known for his journeyman career in the NFL as a quarterback from 1994 to 2008. He played for seven different teams, including the Washington Football Team, Detroit Lions, and Minnesota Vikings.

Perhaps his best season came in 1996 when he was named to the Pro Bowl while with Washington. In that season, he threw for 3453 yards and 12 touchdowns. Frerotte’s most memorable moment might be his infamous headbutt celebration which resulted in a sprained neck.

Over his career, he accumulated 21,291 passing yards and 114 touchdowns, serving mostly as a solid backup or spot starter.

Case Keenum

Case Keenum is perhaps best known as a Minnesota Viking where he led them to the NFC Championship game during the 2017 season. That season he threw for 3547 yards and 22 touchdowns, leading to an 11-3 record as a starter and a memorable playoff run, including the “Minneapolis Miracle” touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs.

Keenum began his career as an undrafted free agent with the Houston Texans in 2012. Despite his undrafted status, Keenum has managed to carve out a substantial career, including significant starting roles for the Rams, Vikings, Broncos, and Washington Football Team.

Over his career thus far, he’s passed for over 14,800 yards and 78 touchdowns.

Lawrence McCutcheon

Lawrence McCutcheon had a distinguished career as a running back in the NFL. He was selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the 3rd round of the 1972 NFL Draft after his college career at Colorado State University.

McCutcheon became a key player for the Rams and was instrumental in their offensive scheme throughout the 1970s. He quickly developed into one of the most reliable rushers in the league, earning five Pro Bowl selections during his tenure with the Rams.

After his stint with the Rams, McCutcheon had brief stints with the Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks and Buffalo Bills before retiring.

Tommy Maddox

Tommy Maddox was initially drafted in the first round (25th overall) of the 1992 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. After spending his first three seasons in the NFL with the Broncos, Maddox had stints with several other teams, including the Rams, Giants, and Falcons.

Maddox experienced a career revival in the short-lived XFL with the Los Angeles Xtreme. In the XFL’s single season in 2001, Maddox was named the league’s MVP, leading the Xtreme to the championship and winning the Million Dollar Game.

This resurgence led to his return to the league with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In 2002, he took over as the starting quarterback from Kordell Stewart and led the team to a 10-5-1 record, earning NFL Comeback Player of the Year honors.
