7 Football Players who Played for Chiefs and Packers

I’ve done some research and have found players who played on both the Chiefs and Packers.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, also known by his initials MVS, was drafted in the 5th round of the 2018 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers, where he quickly established a rapport with legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Known for his speed and deep-threat ability, Valdes-Scantling has contributed some big plays for the Packers’ potent offense. In his first four seasons, he amassed over 2100 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns, with an impressive average yards per reception, demonstrating his capability as a downfield threat.

In 2022, Valdes-Scantling was signed by the Chiefs and he became a solid contributor (almost 700 yards receiving) to the Chiefs’ Super Bowl winning season.

Frank Winters

Frank Winters spent most of his career with the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League. Known as “Frankie Bag ‘O Donuts,” he was a standout center in the league.

Winters started his NFL career in 1987 with the Cleveland Browns, but he really made his mark with the Packers, where he played from 1992 to 2002. During his time in Green Bay, Winters was recognized as one of the best at his position, earning Pro Bowl honors in 1996 and contributing significantly to the Packers’ Super Bowl XXXI victory in 1997.

Known for his durability and toughness, Winters started 141 games for the Packers during his 11-year stint with the team. After retiring, he was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in 2008.

Andre Rison

Andre Rison was selected in the first round, 22nd overall, by the Indianapolis Colts in the 1989 NFL Draft. Throughout his career, Rison’s big-play ability made him one of the most exciting receivers of his era, and his contributions on the field were often matched by his colorful personality off of it.

During his career, Rison played for multiple teams including the Colts, Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Oakland Raiders. As a wide receiver, he amassed over 10,000 receiving yards and 84 touchdown receptions.

He was a five-time Pro Bowl selection and a First-Team All-Pro in 1990. He was also a key mid-season addition to the Packers team that ended up winning Super Bowl XXXI.

Steve Bono

Steve Bono is probably best remembered for his time with the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs. However, Bono spent 15 years in the NFL playing for seven different teams: the Vikings, Steelers, 49ers, Chiefs, Packers, Rams, and Panthers.

After being selected in the sixth round of the 1985 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings, Bono had the opportunity to work with some of the best coaches and players in the league. For example, he joined the San Francisco 49ers in 1989, where he had the chance to learn from Hall of Fame QBs Joe Montana and Steve Young.

In 1995, Bono became the starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs. That year, he led the Chiefs to a 13-3 record and a first-place finish in the AFC West. His performance earned him a spot in the Pro Bowl.

Vonnie Holliday

Vonnie Holliday was selected in the 1st round, 19th overall, by the Green Bay Packers in the 1998 NFL Draft. The defensive end made an immediate impact, earning All-Rookie honors.

Holliday had a 15-year career in the NFL, playing for multiple teams including the Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, Denver Broncos, Washington Football Team, and the Arizona Cardinals.

Known for his pass-rushing skills, Holliday accumulated 62.5 sacks, 599 tackles, and 9 forced fumbles over his career. He also had a knack for making plays in crucial situations, often coming up with big sacks or tackles for a loss.

Sammy Watkins

Sammy Watkins was drafted by the Buffalo Bills with the 4th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. In his rookie season with the Bills, Watkins caught 65 passes for 982 yards and six touchdowns, showing promise as a dynamic offensive weapon.

In his second season, he managed to surpass 1,000 receiving yards, finishing with 1,047 yards and nine touchdowns on 60 receptions.

Watkins joined the Kansas City Chiefs for the 2018 season. He had a productive tenure with the Chiefs, playing a key role in their offensive unit that won Super Bowl LIV against the San Francisco 49ers. His clutch performances during the playoff run were particularly noteworthy.

Vaughn Booker

Vaughn Booker was drafted in the fourth round of the 1994 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. Booker spent four seasons with the Chiefs from 1994 to 1997. He then played for the Green Bay Packers from 1998 to 1999, followed by the Cincinnati Bengals from 2000 to 2001.

While Vaughn Booker may not have received major awards or won a Super Bowl during his NFL career, he was a solid player known for his work on the defensive line.

Booker started in 79 games over his 9-year career. He recorded over 200 tackles, 14.5 sacks and 5 forced fumbles over that time.
