I’ve done some research and have found players who played on both the Commanders and Lions.
Adrian Peterson
Adrian Peterson is widely regarded as one of the greatest running backs in NFL history. From his debut in 2007 through 2020, Peterson amassed over 14,900 rushing yards and 120 rushing touchdowns.
Selected 7th overall in the 2007 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings, Peterson quickly established himself as a force in the league, setting the NFL single-game rushing record with 296 yards in his rookie season. His 2012 season was particularly noteworthy, as he fell just nine yards short of breaking the single-season rushing record after returning from a severe knee injury.
Peterson has earned numerous accolades over his career, including the NFL MVP award in 2012, and has been selected to the Pro Bowl seven times. He also played for the New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, Washington Redskins, and Detroit Lions.

Desmond Howard
Desmond Howard was selected by the Washington Redskins in the 1st round, 4th overall, of the 1992 NFL Draft. The wide receiver and return specialist played in the NFL for 11 seasons with various teams including the Redskins, Green Bay Packers, Oakland Raiders, and Detroit Lions.
Howard’s most memorable achievement came during his time with the Packers when he was named the MVP of Super Bowl XXXI. In that game, he returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown, becoming the first and only player to win Super Bowl MVP solely for special teams play.
Over his career, Howard returned 8 punts for touchdowns. His return skills, particularly his performance in the Super Bowl, solidified his place in NFL history. Howard ended his NFL career with 123 receptions for 1,597 receiving yards and 7 receiving touchdowns, along with the impressive special teams contributions.

Gus Frerotte
Gus Frerotte is known for his journeyman career in the NFL as a quarterback from 1994 to 2008. He played for seven different teams, including the Washington Football Team, Detroit Lions, and Minnesota Vikings.
Perhaps his best season came in 1996 when he was named to the Pro Bowl while with Washington. In that season, he threw for 3453 yards and 12 touchdowns. Frerotte’s most memorable moment might be his infamous headbutt celebration which resulted in a sprained neck.
Over his career, he accumulated 21,291 passing yards and 114 touchdowns, serving mostly as a solid backup or spot starter.
Rodney Peete
Rodney Peete is a former quarterback who had a long career in the NFL. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the 6th round of the 1989 NFL Draft.
Peete played for the Lions from 1989 to 1993 and would go on to play for several other NFL teams including the Cowboys, Eagles, Redskins, Raiders, and Panthers. Over the course of his career, Peete threw for more than 16,000 yards and 76 touchdowns.
While he never made it to a Pro Bowl, Peete was a reliable starter for several years, particularly during his time with the Lions. His longevity in the league is a rarity for a player who was not a high draft pick.
T.J. Duckett
T.J. Duckett played his collegiate football at Michigan State University, where he established himself as a dominant force in the backfield. His performance with the Spartans led to him being selected in the first round, 18th overall, by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2002 NFL Draft.
During his tenure with the Falcons, Duckett became an integral part of their rushing attack, often pairing with other backs in a committee approach. His best season came in 2003 when he rushed for 779 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Following his time in Atlanta, Duckett played for the Washington Redskins, Detroit Lions, and Seattle Seahawks. His NFL career was marked by consistent production in short-yardage and red-zone situations.
