There is a good chance that if you’ve found this page then you’re playing the Immaculate Grid.

That also means that today’s grid has asked for players that have played for both the Las Vegas Raiders and Detroit Lions.

And, it also means that you’re probably stuck on this particular box and you’re looking for a little help. Sound about right so far?

Well, good news, you’re in the right place.

I’ve done some research and have found players who played on both the Raiders and Lions.

Ameer Abdullah

Ameer Abdullah, a running back with an exceptional college career at Nebraska, was drafted by the Lions in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft. Abdullah made his presence felt with his quick acceleration and shiftiness. However, he has dealt with several injuries throughout his career, affecting his production.

Abdullah also played for the Vikings and Panthers, providing depth in the backfield and contributing on special teams, particularly in kickoff returns. Even though he hasn’t consistently been a starting running back, his versatility has allowed him to maintain a role on teams.

Josh McCown

Josh McCown, known for his resilience and adaptability, carved out a noteworthy 17-year career in the NFL – mostly as a reliable backup quarterback.

From his entry into the league with the Arizona Cardinals in 2002, he played for 9 different teams, a few times as the starting QB, but also stepping in and performing effectively whenever called upon when he wasn’t.

He threw for over 17,000 yards and 98 touchdowns, holding a career passer rating of around 80. Particularly impressive stints came with the Chicago Bears in 2013 and the New York Jets in 2017.

Rodney Peete

Rodney Peete is a former quarterback who had a long career in the NFL. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the 6th round of the 1989 NFL Draft.

Peete played for the Lions from 1989 to 1993 and would go on to play for several other NFL teams including the Cowboys, Eagles, Redskins, Raiders, and Panthers. Over the course of his career, Peete threw for more than 16,000 yards and 76 touchdowns.

While he never made it to a Pro Bowl, Peete was a reliable starter for several years, particularly during his time with the Lions. His longevity in the league is a rarity for a player who was not a high draft pick.

Desmond Howard

Desmond Howard was selected by the Washington Redskins in the 1st round, 4th overall, of the 1992 NFL Draft. The wide receiver and return specialist played in the NFL for 11 seasons with various teams including the Redskins, Green Bay Packers, Oakland Raiders, and Detroit Lions.

Howard’s most memorable achievement came during his time with the Packers when he was named the MVP of Super Bowl XXXI. In that game, he returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown, becoming the first and only player to win Super Bowl MVP solely for special teams play.

Over his career, Howard returned 8 punts for touchdowns. His return skills, particularly his performance in the Super Bowl, solidified his place in NFL history. Howard ended his NFL career with 123 receptions for 1,597 receiving yards and 7 receiving touchdowns, along with the impressive special teams contributions.

Culpepper’s 2004 season with the Vikings was one of the most productive ever by a QB, as he set a single-season record for total yardage produced by a quarterback (5123 yards) and led the NFL in passing yards (4717). His performance earned him a Pro Bowl selection, one of three he would achieve in his career (2000, 2003, 2004).

His career took a downturn following a serious knee injury in 2005, and he then bounced around with several teams including the Dolphins, Raiders, and Lions. Despite these later challenges, Culpepper left a significant mark in the NFL, ending his career with 24,153 passing yards and 149 touchdowns.
