I’ve already done the research and have put together a list of well-known stars along with some more “under-the-radar” players that could land you a low rarity score.

Jonathan Marchessault

Jonathan Marchessault is a Canadian forward currently playing for the Vegas Golden Knights in the NHL. He was not selected in any NHL Entry Draft and signed his first professional contract with the AHL’s Connecticut Whale in 2011. Over his career, he has played for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Florida Panthers.

Marchessault was selected by the Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft and played a pivotal role in their success, including helping them reach the Stanley Cup Finals in their inaugural season​​. His outstanding playoff performance included scoring critical goals and earning the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player.

His career statistics (as of this writing) include 556 NHL regular season games, with 188 goals, 230 assists, and a total of 418 points​​.

William Karlsson

William Karlsson, a Swedish forward, has had a significant impact in the NHL, particularly with the Vegas Golden Knights. Drafted 53rd overall by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Karlsson began his NHL journey with the Ducks, making his debut in October 2014.

He was later traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2015. Karlsson’s career took a pivotal turn when he was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft. In his first season with Vegas (2017–18), he scored a career-high 43 goals, setting an NHL record for most goals by a player in an expansion team’s inaugural season.

This achievement led him to win the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy for sportsmanship and high standard of play, and the Guldpucken as the top Swedish ice hockey player of the season. By the 2022–23 season, he was one of the six remaining original members of the team, contributing significantly to their Stanley Cup victory over the Florida Panthers.

Nick Holden

Nick Holden is a Canadian former defenseman who played 12 seasons in the NHL. He played for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Colorado Avalanche, New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, Vegas Golden Knights, and Ottawa Senators. He ended his major junior hockey career by signing a three-year entry-level contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets​​.

Holden left the Blue Jackets in 2013 to sign with the Colorado Avalanche. After impressing at training camp, he made the Avalanche’s opening night roster for the 2013–14 season. During this season, Holden scored his first NHL goal and established himself as a key player in the Avalanche’s defense.

In 2018, Holden signed with the Vegas Golden Knights, marking his fifth NHL club. He spent most of the 2020–21 season on the Golden Knights’ “Taxi Squad.” On July 28, 2021, he was traded to the Ottawa Senators, where he played his final two seasons.
