Hockey Players who Played for Knights and Sabres

My guess is you’ve searched this page out because you’re playing the Immaculate Grid.

If I’m right, that also means that today’s grid is asking for players who have played for both the Vegas Golden Knights and the Buffalo Sabres.

And, I’m also guessing that you’re a little stuck on this particular square and you’re looking for a little help to keep your grid immaculate. Sound about right so far?

Well, good news, I’m here to help.

I’ve already done the research and have put together a list of well-known stars along with some more “under-the-radar” players that could land you a low rarity score.

Robin Lehner

Robin Lehner is a Swedish goaltender currently playing for the Vegas Golden Knights. He was selected 46th overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Ottawa Senators. Before joining the NHL, Lehner played in the J20 SuperElit league in Sweden and then in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

Lehner made his NHL debut with the Ottawa Senators in 2010 and became a permanent fixture in their lineup by the 2013-14 season. He struggled with consistency during his time in Ottawa, and in 2015, he was traded to the Buffalo Sabres. Despite solid save percentages, Lehner’s overall performance was limited due to a lack of offensive support from the team.

Lehner signed with the New York Islanders in 2018 and had an outstanding season, winning the William M. Jennings Trophy and the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. He later moved to the Chicago Blackhawks for the 2019-2020 season before joining the Vegas Golden Knights.

Jack Eichel

Jack Eichel is an American-born center and alternate captain for the Vegas Golden Knights. Selected second overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Sabres, Eichel was heralded as a rising talent in American hockey from a young age.

Eichel made his NHL debut in 2015 with the Sabres, scoring his first goal in his first game and finishing his rookie season with 24 goals and 56 points in 81 games. He continued to be a key player for Buffalo, setting franchise records and reaching significant career milestones, such as scoring his first career hat-trick in 2017 and being selected for the 2018 NHL All-Star game.

In the 2022–23 season with the Knights, Eichel assumed significant responsibilities both offensively and defensively. He led the league in postseason scoring with 26 points and helped the Golden Knights reach the Stanley Cup Finals, where they beat the Florida Panthers. Eichel finished second in voting for the Conn Smythe Trophy for playoff MVP.

Cody Eakin

Cody Eakin is a Canadian forward currently playing with the SCL Tigers of the National League. He was drafted by the Washington Capitals in the third round, 85th overall, of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, after being selected in the first round, sixth overall, by the Swift Current Broncos in the 2006 WHL Draft.

Eakin began his NHL career with the Capitals’ AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears, in the 2011–12 season, making his NHL debut in November 2011. Eakin was traded to the Dallas Stars in 2012 and scored his first career Stanley Cup playoff goal in 2014.

In the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft, he was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights. He was later traded to the Winnipeg Jets, his hometown team, in 2020, and then signed with the Buffalo Sabres as a free agent in the same year.
