There is a good chance that if you’ve found this page then you’re playing the Immaculate Grid.

That also means that today’s grid has asked for players that have played for both the Atlanta Braves and Houston Astros.

And, it also means that you’re probably stuck on this particular box and you’re looking for a little help. Sound about right so far?

Well, good news, you’re in the right place.

I’ve done some research and have found players who played for both the Braves and the Astros.

Ken Caminiti

Ken Caminiti, who played from 1987 to 2001, is best remembered for his time as a third baseman with the Houston Astros and the San Diego Padres.

Caminiti had a significant career, with 983 RBIs, 239 home runs, and a .272 career batting average. His defining season was 1996 with the Padres, when he hit .326 with 40 home runs and 130 RBIs, earning him the National League MVP title.

Caminiti was a three-time All-Star (Astros, Padres) and a three-time Gold Glove winner (Padres), reflecting his high-level performance on both offense and defense.

Charlie Morton

Charlie Morton is in his 16th year in the majors and is currently pitching for the Atlanta Braves. He has played for 5 different teams over his long career thus far including the Pirates, Rays, Astros and Phillies.

Morton has been a solid player throughout his career, racking up 125 wins, over 1800 strikeouts and a 4.00 ERA (as of this writing). He’s also made two All-Star appearances (Astros, Rays) and two World Series rings – Astros in 2017 and Braves in 2021.

Fun Fact: Morton has the interesting distinction of having led the league four different times in ‘Hits by Pitch’.

Mike Hampton

Mike Hampton was a notable left-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball from 1993 to 2010, best known for his stints with the Houston Astros and the Atlanta Braves.

Hampton was a two-time All-Star (Astros, Rockies) and a 5x winner of the Silver Slugger award for pitchers (Astros, Mets, Rockies, Braves). With a win-loss record of 148-115 and an ERA of 4.06, he demonstrated his pitching prowess consistently.

In addition to his pitching skills, Hampton was also known for his batting, boasting a .246 career batting average and hitting 16 home runs, both exceptional numbers for a pitcher.

Joe Niekro

Joe Niekro was a prominent right-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball, who had an impressive career spanning from 1967 to 1988. Known as one of the most successful knuckleball pitchers, he won 221 games, including a no-hitter in 1973.

Niekro spent the majority of his career with the Houston Astros, where he became the franchise’s all-time leader in wins. His standout year came in 1979 when he won 21 games and helped the Astros to a playoff berth.

Not only did he excel individually, but he and his brother Phil Niekro hold the record for the most combined wins by brothers in MLB history.
