Baseball Players who Played for Orioles and Royals

There is a good chance that if you’ve found this page then you’re playing the Immaculate Grid.

That also means that today’s grid has asked for players that have played for both the Baltimore Orioles and Kansas City Royals.

And, it also means that you’re probably stuck on this particular box and you’re looking for a little help. Sound about right so far?

Well, good news, you’re in the right place.

I’ve done some research and have found players who played for both the Orioles and the Royals.

Ryan O’Hearn

Ryan O’Hearn made his MLB debut with the Royals in July 2018, and he showed promise as a power hitter, recording 12 home runs in 44 games during his rookie season. However, his batting averages have fluctuated in the subsequent seasons, and he has split time between the Royals and their minor league affiliates.

In 2023, the Orioles acquired O’Hearn from the Royals.

O’Hearn’s power at the plate has been a highlight, though consistency has been a challenge. His defensive versatility has also been a plus, allowing him to contribute at both first base and in the outfield.

Jorge Lopez

Jorge López initially came up with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2015 and later made his impact with the Royals, Orioles and now Twins.

As of the end of the 2022 season, López has maintained an ERA hovering a little over 5.00, while showing some flashes of brilliance, including a near-perfect game in 2018 against the Minnesota Twins while with the Royals.

In 2022, while splitting time with the Orioles and Twins, Lopez had arguably his best season with an ERA of 2.54 and 72 strikeouts – earning him his only spot in the All-Star game.

Miguel Tejada

Miguel Tejada racked up 6 All-Star awards and an MVP award in 2002 while playing with the Oakland Athletics. He led the league in RBIs with 150 in 2004 while with the Orioles. He also led the league in doubles with 50 in 2005 with the Orioles.

Tejada played for six different teams over his 16-year career – Oakland, Baltimore, Houston, Kansas City, San Diego and the San Francisco Giants.

Jeff Conine

Jeff Conine, nicknamed “Mr. Marlin,” had a long and notable career in MLB, primarily with the Florida Marlins. Conine spent 17 years in the major leagues, from 1990 to 2007, and hit .285 with 214 home runs and 1071 RBIs in his career.

He was a key player for the Marlins during their World Series championships in 1997 and 2003. Conine was a two-time All-Star, and in 1995, he was named the All-Star Game MVP. He was highly regarded for his consistency and durability, as he played in 100 or more games in 14 out of his 17 seasons.

Gregg Olson

Gregg Olson was a relief pitcher who played from 1988 to 2001. Olson spent the majority of his career with the Baltimore Orioles, where he served as the team’s closer. However, he played for 9 different teams over his 14 year career.

He won the American League Rookie of the Year award in 1989 with the Orioles, when he recorded 27 saves with a 1.69 ERA. In his career, Olson was an All-Star once (also with Orioles), and he accumulated 217 saves, with a career ERA of 3.46.
