Baseball Players who Played for Phillies and Giants

There is a good chance that if you’ve found this page then you’re playing the Immaculate Grid.

That also means that today’s grid has asked for players that have played for both the Philadelphia Phillies and San Francisco Giants.

And, it also means that you’re probably stuck on this particular box and you’re looking for a little help. Sound about right so far?

Well, good news, you’re in the right place.

I’ve done some research and have found a player who played on both the Phillies and Giants.

Hunter Pence

Hunter Pence, a right fielder, played in the majors for 14 years from 2007 to 2020, most notably with the San Francisco Giants, where he was an integral part of their 2012 and 2014 World Series championships.

Pence, a four-time All-Star (Astros, Giants, Rangers), also spent time with the Astros, Phillies, and Rangers. He was known for his unconventional style, both in his swing and his outfield play. Pence finished his career with a .279 batting average, 244 home runs, and 942 RBIs.

His 2013 season with the Giants was a standout, with Pence hitting .283 with 27 home runs and 99 RBIs, earning him a spot in the All-Star game.

Benito Santiago

As a young catcher growing up, I remember seeing Benito Santiago throwing players out from his knees and thought it was the coolest thing ever and something I remember imitating in Little League games.

But, that’s not what matters here. What matters is that 5 time All-Star Benito Santiago played for 9 different teams throughout this 20 year career which makes him an absolute force on the Immaculate Grid.

Santiago played for Padres, Giants, Reds, (Florida) Marlins, Blue Jays, Royals, Pirates, Phillies and Cubs.

Steve Carlton

Steve Carlton, nicknamed “Lefty”, was a legendary pitcher in baseball from 1965 to 1988. He is best remembered for his success with the Philadelphia Phillies, but he also played for the Cardinals, Twins, Giants, Indians (now Guardians) and White Sox.

Carlton was a big part of the 1980 World Series win for the Phillies.

He had over 300 wins and struck out more than 4,000 batters. Plus, he was a four-time Cy Young Award winner. Carlton was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1994. In short, Lefty was a pitching powerhouse and left a huge footprint in the sport.

Pat Burrell

Pat Burrell, who played from 2000 to 2011, is best known for his time as a left fielder with the Philadelphia Phillies and San Francisco Giants.

Over his 12-season career, Burrell gathered over 1300 hits, 292 home runs, and a .253 career batting average. While never named an All-Star, Burrell was a key contributor to two World Series championship teams: the 2008 Phillies and the 2010 Giants.

His best statistical season might have been 2002, when he hit .282 with 37 home runs and 116 RBIs.
