7 Football Players who Played for Dolphins and Rams

Ryan Fitzpatrick
Ryan Fitzpatrick, nicknamed “Fitzmagic,” is a well-traveled quarterback known for his intelligence and grit. He was drafted in the 7th round by the St. Louis Rams in the 2005 NFL Draft.
Fitzpatrick is the first Harvard quarterback to ever start an NFL game. Over his career, he has played for several teams, including the Rams, Bengals, Bills, Titans, Texans, Jets, Buccaneers, Dolphins, and the Commanders. A consummate journeyman, Fitzpatrick has shown an ability to produce solid numbers, often surpassing initial expectations.
Fitzpatrick finished his career with 34,990 passing yards and 223 touchdowns with a career QBR of 82.3.

Ndamukong Suh
Ndamukong Suh is an NFL defensive tackle known for his dominant presence on the field and his aggressive style of play. He played college football at the University of Nebraska, where he garnered numerous accolades and emerged as one of the most dominant defensive players in the nation.
Selected second overall by the Detroit Lions in the 2010 NFL Draft, Suh made an immediate impact, winning the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award. Throughout his tenure with the Lions, he was consistently recognized as one of the top defensive linemen in the league, earning multiple Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections.
Suh later played for the Dolphins, Rams, Buccaneers, and Eagles. One of the team highlights of his career includes winning Super Bowl LV with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Wes Welker
Wes Welker is widely known for his productive stint with the New England Patriots from 2007 to 2012. His quickness and ability to read defenses made him an ideal slot receiver, resulting in five Pro Bowl selections.
Welker led the NFL in receptions three times during his career, 2007, 2009, and 2011, and became the first receiver in NFL history with five 110-catch seasons. He later joined the Denver Broncos, reaching another Super Bowl, but unfortunately didn’t secure a championship.
He ended his 12-year career with 903 receptions, 9924 receiving yards, and 50 touchdowns.

Gus Frerotte
Gus Frerotte is known for his journeyman career in the NFL as a quarterback from 1994 to 2008. He played for seven different teams, including the Washington Football Team, Detroit Lions, and Minnesota Vikings.
Perhaps his best season came in 1996 when he was named to the Pro Bowl while with Washington. In that season, he threw for 3453 yards and 12 touchdowns. Frerotte’s most memorable moment might be his infamous headbutt celebration which resulted in a sprained neck.
Over his career, he accumulated 21,291 passing yards and 114 touchdowns, serving mostly as a solid backup or spot starter.
Danny Amendola
Danny Amendola, a wide receiver and return specialist, had a career in the NFL that spanned from 2009 to 2021. He began as an undrafted free agent with the Dallas Cowboys, but rose to fame with the New England Patriots (2013-2017), winning two Super Bowl titles with them.
Amendola also had stints with the St. Louis Rams, Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, and Houston Texans.
Over his career, Amendola recorded over 617 receptions for more than 6000 yards, with 24 receiving touchdowns. He also contributed to special teams with 1860 punt return yards and 3590 kick return yards.
Cortland Finnegan
Cortland Finnegan was drafted in the seventh round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. Finnegan quickly made a name for himself as a hard-nosed, aggressive cornerback. He earned Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro honors in 2008 while with the Titans.
Over his career, Finnegan played for the Titans, St. Louis Rams, Miami Dolphins, and Carolina Panthers. He was known for his physical play and his ability to get into the heads of opponents, which sometimes led to on-field altercations.
Finnegan amassed over 600 tackles, 18 interceptions (4 of those returned for touchdowns), and 5 forced fumbles during his NFL career, which spanned 10 seasons.
Matt Turk
Matt Turk had a lengthy and successful career as a punter in the NFL. He entered the league in 1995 and went on to play for several teams throughout his career, including the Washington Redskins, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, St. Louis Rams, Houston Texans, and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Turk’s career achievements include being selected as a 1st-Team All Pro in 1996 as a member of the Redskins (now the Commanders) along with 3 Pro Bowl nods. He was known for his strong leg and ability to pin opposing teams deep in their own territory.
Additionally, Matt Turk was part of the Houston Texans’ inaugural season in 2002 and played a significant role in the team’s early years. He retired from the NFL in 2012 after a career that spanned 17 seasons, making him one of the NFL’s longest-tenured punters.
