5 Football Players who Played for Texans and Browns

There is a good chance that if you’ve found this page then you’re playing the Immaculate Grid.

That also means that today’s grid has asked for players that have played for both the Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns.

And, it also means that you’re probably stuck on this particular box and you’re looking for a little help. Sound about right so far?

Well, good news, you’re in the right place.

I’ve done some research and have found players who played for both the Texans and the Browns.

Case Keenum

Case Keenum is perhaps best known as a Minnesota Viking where he led them to the NFC Championship game during the 2017 season. That season he threw for 3547 yards and 22 touchdowns, leading to an 11-3 record as a starter and a memorable playoff run, including the “Minneapolis Miracle” touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs.

Keenum began his career as an undrafted free agent with the Houston Texans in 2012. Despite his undrafted status, Keenum has managed to carve out a substantial career, including significant starting roles for the Rams, Vikings, Broncos, and Washington Football Team.

Over his career thus far, he’s passed for over 14,800 yards and 78 touchdowns.

Keenum Key Stats

  • 3000+ Passing Yard Season (Vikings, Broncos)

Brian Hoyer

Brian Hoyer is a veteran quarterback who has primarily been a backup with multiple NFL teams. He entered the league undrafted in 2009 and signed with the New England Patriots, backing up Tom Brady and earning a Super Bowl ring with the team in Super Bowl XLIX.

Hoyer has also started for several teams, including the Cleveland Browns (his lone 3000+ Yard Passing Season was there), Houston Texans, Chicago Bears, and San Francisco 49ers, with career passing stats including over 10,000 yards, 53 touchdowns, and a passer rating in the mid-80s.

Tyrod Taylor

Tyrod Taylor was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the 6th round of the 2011 NFL Draft and served as a backup to Joe Flacco for four seasons, earning a Super Bowl ring in Super Bowl XLVII.

Taylor got his chance to start when he signed with the Buffalo Bills in 2015. His dual-threat ability as a passer and runner was key in leading the Bills to their first playoff appearance in 17 seasons in 2017.

However, his time as a starter in Buffalo lasted for only three seasons and he has since gone on to backup roles with the Browns, Chargers, Texans and Giants.

Taylor Key Stats

  • Pro Bowl (Bills)
  • Super Bowl Championship (Ravens)
  • 3000+ Yards Passing/Season (Bills)

Carlos Hyde

Carlos Hyde was drafted in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. He played for the 49ers from 2014 to 2017 before joining a series of other teams. Over his career, he played for the Browns, Jaguars, Texans, Seahawks, and Chiefs.

Hyde’s career has been that of a journeyman running back, moving from team to team but generally offering reliable production when given the opportunity. While with the 49ers, he rushed for almost 1,000 yards in the 2016 season.

A few years later with the Houston Texans in 2019, he surpassed 1,000 rushing yards for the first time in his career, finishing the season with 1,070 yards and six touchdowns.

Hyde Key Stats

  • 1000+ Yard Rushing Season (Texans)

Jake Delhomme

Jake Delhomme had a prominent career in the NFL, mainly remembered for his time as a quarterback with the Carolina Panthers. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent, signing with the New Orleans Saints in 1997, but it was with the Panthers that he truly made a name for himself.

Delhomme joined the Carolina Panthers in 2003 and immediately made an impact, leading the team to a Super Bowl appearance in his first season as their starter. Though the Panthers lost to the Patriots, Delhomme’s performance throughout that season and in the playoffs established him as a top quarterback in the league.

During his career with the Panthers (2003-2009), Delhomme was named to the Pro Bowl in 2005, and he left the team holding several franchise records, including highest quarterback rating in a single season and most career fourth-quarter comeback wins.

Delhomme Key Stats

  • 3000+ Yard Passing Season (Panthers)
