I’ve already done the research and have put together a list of well-known stars along with some more “under-the-radar” players that could land you a low rarity score.

Nate Schmidt

Nate Schmidt is an American-born player currently playing for the Winnipeg Jets. Starting his career as an undrafted player, Schmidt signed with the Washington Capitals in 2013 after playing for the University of Minnesota.

After four seasons with the Capitals, Schmidt was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft. During his first season with the Golden Knights, he achieved career-high numbers in points and led the team in average playing time. Schmidt played a pivotal role in the Golden Knights’ remarkable inaugural season, which saw them reach the Stanley Cup Finals, only to lose to his former team, the Capitals.

Schmidt was traded to the Vancouver Canucks on October 12, 2020, for a third-round pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. However, he expressed his unhappiness following the trade due to a lack of communication with Vegas management. A year later, on July 27, 2021, he was traded to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for a third-round pick in 2022.

Derrick Pouliot

Derrick Pouliot is a Canadian defenceman currently playing for the Texas Stars in the AHL while under contract for the Dallas Stars. He has played for several NHL teams, including the Pittsburgh Penguins, Vancouver Canucks, St. Louis Blues, Vegas Golden Knights, Seattle Kraken, and San Jose Sharks.

Pouliot was selected eighth overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Penguins​​. Pouliot made his NHL debut with the Pittsburgh Penguins in December 2014, scoring his first NHL goal on his first shot. He was part of the Penguins team that won the Stanley Cup in 2016.

In October 2017, he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks. He set an NHL record for most goals scored from the start of a career, with all being game-winning goals, during his time with the Canucks.

Ben Hutton

Ben Hutton is a Canadian defenseman currently playing for the Vegas Golden Knights. Hutton’s journey to the NHL began with his selection by the Vancouver Canucks, 147th overall in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Hutton’s pro career saw him start with the Canucks in 2015, moving on to play for the Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, and Toronto Maple Leafs, before joining the Vegas Golden Knights. His career statistics in the NHL as of 2023 include 22 goals and 90 assists in 468 regular season games, and he has appeared in 2 playoff games​​​​.

His international achievements include representing Canada at the 2011 World Junior A Challenge, winning silver, and at the 2016 IIHF World Championship in Moscow, where he won gold. Hutton achieved the pinnacle of NHL success by winning the Stanley Cup with the Golden Knights in 2023​.

Luca Sbisa

Luca Sbisa is an Italian-born Swiss former defenseman, who is currently a development coach for the San Jose Sharks. He played in the NHL for various teams, including the Philadelphia Flyers, Anaheim Ducks, Vancouver Canucks, Vegas Golden Knights, New York Islanders, Winnipeg Jets, and Nashville Predators.

Sbisa was drafted 19th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in 2008. He was traded to the Anaheim Ducks in 2009. In 2014, he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks. Sbisa was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft but was not re-signed by them in 2018, leading to a contract with the New York Islanders.

He returned briefly to the Ducks in 2019 before being claimed by the Winnipeg Jets off waivers. Sbisa was signed by the Jets again in 2020 and later claimed by the Nashville Predators in 2021​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​. Sbisa’s NHL career totals include 549 games, with 20 goals, 93 assists, and 113 points​​.

Sven Bärtschi

Sven Bärtschi is a retired Swiss forward. He started his pro career in 2009–10 with SC Langenthal in the Swiss National League B and then moved to North America to join the Portland Winterhawks in the Western Hockey League (WHL), where he was the runner-up for the league’s Rookie of the Year award.

Bärtschi was selected by the Calgary Flames in the first round, 13th overall, at the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, and he made his NHL debut in 2012​​. On March 2, 2015, he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks. Bärtschi re-signed with Vancouver on a two-year contract in 2016 and later on a three-year contract extension in 2018.

Following his seventh year with the Canucks without featuring at the NHL level for the 2020–21 season, he left to sign a one-year, two-way contract with the Vegas Golden Knights in July 2021.
