There is a good chance that if you’ve found this page then you’re playing the Immaculate Grid.

That also means that today’s grid has asked for players who have played for both the Washington Nationals (formerly Montreal Expos) and the Los Angeles Angels (formerly Anaheim).

And, it also means that you’re probably stuck on this particular box and you’re looking for a little help. Sound about right so far?

Well, good news, you’re in the right place.

I’ve done some research and have found players who played on both the Nationals and Angels.

Vladimir Guerrero

Vladimir Guerrero was a big deal in baseball from 1996 to 2011, playing mostly for the Expos and Angels – but also with Rangers and Orioles. Known for his free-swinging style and rocket arm in right field, Guerrero earned the MVP title in 2004 while with the Angels.

Over his career, he smashed over 440 home runs, maintained a stellar .318 batting average, and stole more than 180 bases. He was also selected for the All-Star game nine times. Guerrero was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2018.

Andres Galarraga

Andres Galarraga, who played from 1985 to 2004, is best known for his time as a first baseman with the Expos and Rockies. However, he also played for 5 other clubs including the Giants, Braves, Rangers, Angels and Cardinals.

Galarraga was a powerhouse at the plate, amassing over 2,300 hits, 399 home runs, and a .288 career batting average. In ’93 he led the majors with a .370 batting average and in ’96 Galarraga hit 47 home runs and led the majors with 150 RBIs.

Galarraga, nicknamed “The Big Cat” for his quick reflexes at first base, was a five-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove winner.

Adam Eaton

Adam Eaton is an outfielder known for his high-energy play and efficient hitting. Starting his career with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2012, he made a name for himself with the Chicago White Sox from 2014 to 2016, and later, the Washington Nationals where he played a crucial part in their 2019 World Series run.

In his career through the 2022 season, Eaton has hit for a solid batting average of around .280, an on-base percentage hovering near .360, and has over 65 home runs to his credit.

Eaton has twice led the league in triples (’14 & ’16) and he’s stolen more than 70 bases. He’s also proven himself to be a capable and versatile outfielder, primarily playing right field but also spending time in center and left.

Dan Haren

Dan Haren, an effective right-handed pitcher, played from 2003 to 2015 in the Major Leagues. He was a part of eight different organizations, with substantial time spent with the Oakland Athletics, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Los Angeles Angels.

A three-time All-Star (A’s, Diamondbacks), Haren had a career that featured both durability and consistency, pitching over 200 innings in seven separate seasons.

He had a career 153-131 win-loss record, a solid 3.75 ERA, and an impressive 2013 strikeouts. Known for his control, Haren consistently ranked among the league leaders in strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Lucas Giolito

Lucas Giolito was selected by the Washington Nationals as the 16th overall pick in the 2012 MLB Draft. Giolito’s combination of fastball velocity, effective changeup, and sharp-breaking slider have made him one of the prominent young pitchers in the game.

Giolito made his major league debut with the Nationals in 2016 before being traded to the Chicago White Sox. The right-handed starting pitcher soon became one of the key pieces in the White Sox’s rotation.

His breakout year came in 2019 when he was named an All-Star and finished the season with a 14-9 record, a 3.41 ERA, and 228 strikeouts in 176.2 innings. Giolito’s 2020 season included a no-hitter against the Pittsburgh Pirates, a highlight for any pitcher’s career.
