And, it also means that you’re probably stuck on this particular box and you’re looking for a little help. Sound about right so far?

Well, good news, you’re in the right place.

I’ve done some research and have found multiple players who played on both the Tigers and the Diamondbacks.

Max Scherzer

Max Scherzer, known for his distinctive different-colored eyes, has been a force to reckon with in baseball since he started in 2008. He’s played for several teams, including the Diamondbacks, Tigers, Nationals, Dodgers and Mets.

Scherzer’s a three-time Cy Young Award winner and played a crucial role in the Nationals’ World Series win in 2019.

Scherzer is still active (as of 2023) and has over 3,000 strikeouts with a career-high of 300 in 2018 with the Nationals. Despite moving around a bit, Max has consistently been a top-tier pitcher in the majors.

Luis Gonzalez

Luis Gonzalez, also known as “Gonzo”, was an outstanding Major League Baseball outfielder whose career spanned from 1990 to 2008. Gonzalez is best known for his time with the Arizona Diamondbacks from 1999 to 2006, where he was a key player and a fan favorite.

His career peaked in 2001, when he hit a whopping 57 home runs, made the All-Star team, and was instrumental in the Diamondbacks’ World Series win, notably hitting the walk-off single in Game 7 to clinch the championship.

Known for his consistency and power, Gonzalez finished his career with a .283 batting average, 2591 hits, and 354 home runs. His number 20 was retired by the Diamondbacks, honoring his contributions to the team.

Gonzalez Key Stats

  • All-Star (Diamondbacks)
  • Silver Slugger (Diamondbacks)
  • 200+ Hits (Diamondbacks)
  • 100+ RBIs (Diamondbacks)
  • 40+ HRs (Diamondbacks)

Justin Upton

Justin Upton, who played 16 years in the majors, is most recognized for his time as an outfielder with the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Angels.

Upton had an impressive career, with over 1700 hits, 325 home runs, and a .261 career batting average.

He was a four-time All-Star (Diamondbacks, Padres, Tigers) and was awarded a Silver Slugger in 2011 and 2014 (Diamondbacks, Tigers/Angels). His best season might have been 2011 when he hit .289 with 31 home runs, 88 RBIs, and 21 stolen bases.

J.D. Martinez

J.D. Martinez is in his 13th year in the majors and is currently playing outfield and DH for the Dodgers.

Martinez is a 6x All-Star (Tigers, Red Sox, Dodgers) and has twice been awarded the Silver Slugger award (Tigers, Red Sox). He’s hit over 300 home runs thus far in his career and is quickly approaching 1000 RBIs.

Given his success and his recent time spent with various teams and it’s easy to see why Martinez will be a popular player for many different squares on the grid.
