And, it also means that you’re probably stuck on this particular box and you’re looking for a little help. Sound about right so far?

Well, good news, you’re in the right place.

I’ve done some research and have found players who played for both the Jets and Chargers.

LaDainian Tomlinson

LaDainian Tomlinson, often referred to as “LT,” was drafted fifth overall by the San Diego Chargers in the 2001 NFL Draft out of TCU. From the outset, he showcased his elite abilities, becoming the focal point of the Chargers’ offense.

Over nine seasons with the Chargers, Tomlinson set numerous records and was frequently among the league leaders in rushing yards and touchdowns. His 2006 season stands out, where he set an NFL record with 28 rushing touchdowns and was unanimously named the league’s MVP.

In 2010, after a storied run with the Chargers, Tomlinson joined the New York Jets, playing a vital role both on and off the field. While his production in New York was more subdued compared to his prime years in San Diego, his leadership and experience were invaluable to the team.

Smith began his professional career as the Jets’ starting quarterback, a position he held for two seasons. In his rookie year, Smith led the Jets to an 8-8 record, but his tenure with the Jets was marked by inconsistency. He later lost the starting job and subsequently served as a backup quarterback for the team.

After bouncing around in a couple of backup roles, Smith had a career resurgence in 2022 with the Seahawks. He earned his first Pro Bowl selection, throwing for over 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns.

Smith Key Stats

Antonio Cromartie

Antonio Cromartie was selected by the San Diego Chargers as the 19th overall pick in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft. During his career, he played as a cornerback for several teams including the Chargers, New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals, and Indianapolis Colts.

Cromartie was named to four Pro Bowls and was a First-Team All-Pro in 2007. In that remarkable 2007 season, he led the NFL with 10 interceptions. Throughout his 11-year career, he recorded a total of 420 tackles, 31 interceptions, and 115 pass deflections.

Cromartie’s ability to read plays and his agility in coverage made him one of the standout cornerbacks of his generation. His length and athleticism were instrumental in his success at breaking up passes and securing interceptions.

Billy Shields

Billy Shields had an impressive 11-year career playing on the offensive line in the NFL. Shields was drafted in the 6th Round by the San Diego Chargers in 1975.

Shields would go on to play 9 seasons with the Chargers, starting 119 games, predominantly at Left Tackle. After his time in San Diego, he had short stops at the San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City Chiefs and the New York Jets.

During his time in San Francisco, Shields was part of the 1984 team that won the Super Bowl. While never a Pro Bowler, Shields had a lengthy, and successful, career playing a very demanding position.
