There is a good chance that if you’ve found this page then you’re playing the Immaculate Grid.

That also means that today’s grid has asked for players that have played for both the Cleveland Guardians and Seattle Mariners.

And, it also means that you’re probably stuck on this particular box and you’re looking for a little help. Sound about right so far?

Well, good news, you’re in the right place.

I’ve done some research and have found players who played for both the Guardians and the Mariners.

Carlos Santana

Carlos Santana is in his 14th year in the majors with 10 of those years spent with Cleveland. In addition to Cleveland, he’s played with the Royals, Pirates, Mariners and Phillies.

Santana has been a solid everyday starter since entering the league, racking up over 1600 hits and 287 home runs and an All-Star appearance in 2019 (Guardians).

Considering his time with Cleveland and how recently he played with the Mariners (2022) it’s easy to see why he would be at the forefront of many fans’ minds.

Santana has previously been the most popular pick for the Cleveland / Seattle square (Grid 93).

Mike Zunino

Mike Zunino has become known for his powerful bat and defensive skills as a catcher. Since being selected third overall by the Seattle Mariners in the 2012 MLB Draft, Zunino played 6 seasons with the Mariners followed by 4 years with the Tampa Bay Rays, and is now playing in Cleveland.

Despite facing challenges with his batting average, Zunino has proven himself to be a home run hitter, boasting multiple seasons with 20 or more home runs. He had a career-high of 33 with the Rays in 2021, helping him secure his first All-Star appearance.

Behind the plate, he is considered a strong defensive catcher, regularly ranking highly in defensive metrics and showcasing a strong arm.

EDWIN ENCARNACION

Edwin Encarnación, a Dominican player who debuted in 2005, is best recognized for his time as a designated hitter and first baseman with the Toronto Blue Jays and Cleveland Indians (now Guardians).

Over his impressive career, Encarnación amassed over 1800 hits, belted more than 400 home runs, and maintained a batting average close to .260. He was a three-time All-Star (Blue Jays) and the AL RBI leader, once driving in 127 runs in a season.

His most productive season came in 2012 with the Blue Jays when he hit .280 with 42 home runs and 110 RBIs.

Richie Sexson

Richie Sexson was a big-hitting first baseman in baseball from 1997 to 2008, playing for the Brewers, Mariners, Diamondbacks, Indians (now Guardians), and Yankees.

Standing at 6’8″, Sexson was an intimidating presence at the plate and cranked over 300 home runs during his career with a single-season best of 45 in both 2001 and 2003 with the Brewers. He was a two-time All-Star and known for hitting some of the longest homers in the game.

Jose Lopez

Jose Lopez, a Venezuelan-born second baseman, had an active career in MLB from 2004 to 2012. He started his career with the Seattle Mariners, later playing for the Colorado Rockies, Florida Marlins, and Chicago White Sox.

Lopez had notable power for a middle infielder, hitting 92 home runs during his career. His standout season came in 2006 when he hit .282 with 79 RBIs and was named an All-Star.

Heathcliff Slocumb

You may remember Heathcliff Slocumb as a relief pitcher with the Phillies and Red Sox in the 90s, but he was a bit of a journeyman playing for 8 teams over the course of 10 years. (Cubs, Phillies, Cardinals, Red Sox, Mariners, Padres, Indians (now Guardians), Orioles)

He was a solid reliever with some good seasons and even an all-star appearance while with the Phillies in 1995.

However, he might be best known in baseball lore for being traded from the Red Sox to the Mariners in 1997 for Derek Lowe and Jason Varitek, a deal that later appeared very lopsided in Boston’s favor.
