Baseball Players who Played for Diamondbacks and Mets

That also means that today’s grid has asked for players that have played for both the Arizona Diamondbacks and New York Mets.

I’ve done some research and have found players who played for both the Diamondbacks and the Mets.
Max Scherzer
Max Scherzer, known for his distinctive different-colored eyes, has been a force to reckon with in baseball since he started in 2008. He’s played for several teams, including the Diamondbacks, Tigers, Nationals, Dodgers and Mets.
Scherzer’s a three-time Cy Young Award winner and played a crucial role in the Nationals’ World Series win in 2019.
Scherzer is still active (as of 2023) and has over 3,000 strikeouts with a career-high of 300 in 2018 with the Nationals. Despite moving around a bit, Max has consistently been a top-tier pitcher in the majors.
Roberto Alomar
Roberto Alomar is the quintessential Immaculate Grid player. Not only did he play for 7 different teams (Blue Jays, Padres, Indians (now Guardians), Orioles, Mets, White Sox and Diamondbacks) he played in All-Star games for 4 of them!
Alomar was an exceptional all-around player, earning 12 All-Star selections, 10 Gold Glove Awards, and 4 Silver Slugger Awards. He amassed over 2,700 hits, scored over 1500 runs and stole over 450 bases.
Alomar was also instrumental in the Blue Jays’ back-to-back World Series championships in 1992 and 1993, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2011.
Jay Bell
Jay Bell, who played from 1986 to 2003, spent most of his career as a shortstop with the Pirates and Diamondbacks. Bell was a solid all-around player, accumulating over 1,900 hits, 195 home runs, and 860 RBIs in his career.
Bell made All-Star games with both the Pirates and Diamondbacks (1 each). He was also a part of the Diamondbacks’ World Series championship team in 2001.
Bell was known for his dependable glove, winning a Gold Glove in 1993, and his consistency at the plate made him a valuable contributor in Major League lineups for nearly two decades.
Melvin Mora
Melvin Mora was a versatile player who had a successful 13-year MLB career, most notably with the Baltimore Orioles. Debuting in 1999 with the New York Mets, Mora played a variety of positions before finding a home at third base.
In his career, he accumulated a .277 batting average, 171 home runs, and 754 RBIs. His best season was arguably 2004, where he hit .340 with 27 home runs and 104 RBIs and led the league with a .419 On Base Percentage.
Rarity Score Alert: Many fans probably remember Mora as an Oriole, but I’m guessing far fewer remember his first season and a half with the Mets and his last season with the Diamondbacks.
